About The Artist

My name is Christine Mohr Russell AKA Krisgoat. I was born March 31 1981 in Sacramento California. I lived in California until I was 20 then moved to Oregon where I now reside.

I have been creating art since I was very young. I was notorious for doodling on the backs of my spelling tests in school. I seriously started to create art at the age of 15. I have always enjoyed drawing and exercising my imagination. A lot of the time I drew to relax. Drawing is my meditation. I also create art to preserve memories and events.

Early on, I was inspired (and still am) by Serendipity books written by Steven Cosgrove and illustrated by Robin James. I am also in love with the wide eyed characters in Japanese Animations and Graphic Novels.

Ball point pens and colored pencils were my medium of choice for a long time but I felt limited. In 2003 I decided to purchase a Wacom Tablet and create digital art. I quickly discovered that this was my true artistic passion. I am now able create art freely without thinking about the common rules of art that restrict me. For the majority of my work I use Photoshop 7.0 and my Wacom Tablet.

I particularly enjoy creating the large glassy eyes of my characters. I feel the eyes make up the very soul of the artwork and allows each piece to own its own personality and life.

I now create art full time - and a lot of overtime too! Every chance I get I am working on something art related. My brain is constantly alive with ideas.

The most exiting thing involving my artwork so far is simply that people like it. To have emotions I put into my work actually passed on to others is truly an amazing complement.

As a self taught artist I plan on refining my skills so I may perfect my technique. With each new piece of art I complete I am taught something new which goes towards improving my next project.
